The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.

The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. It is awarding two types of continuing education scholarships: Community Service Scholarships and Career/Technical Education Scholarships. The number of students receiving each type of scholarship will be determined by the applicant pool. The deadline for accepting applications is March 16, 2018.

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIPS

Intended to encourage and recognize students who have provided significant service to the community in alignment with Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self”. Graduating seniors living and/or attending school on Bainbridge Island are eligible. The scholarships are competitively awarded to students who demonstrate:

  • a commitment to community service, and
  •  leadership skills

Besides a minimum GPA, academic record is not a consideration. Financial need is not a consideration in determining who receives a grant, but in some cases may affect the size of the grant awarded.

CAREER/TECHNICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are being offered to students continuing their education in a setting other than a four-year college or university. They are not intended for general academic pursuits, for students intending to transfer to four-year colleges, or for graduate degrees.

Successful applicants will have:

  • specific vocational goals and a plan for achieving them,
  • exemplary commitment to their vocational goals, and
  • a connection to Bainbridge Island.

Financial need may be a consideration in determining who receives a grant and the size of the grant awarded.
