Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island Awards $159,403 as Community Grants to 37 Nonprofit Organizations.

The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island is pleased to announce awarding its 2018 Community Grants. 36 grants totaling $159,403 will be awarded to 33 Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap County nonprofit organizations.  The Rotary Club will present award checks to the grant recipients at regular Rotary Club meetings over the next three months.

The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island has a long and proud history of supporting diverse community projects, starting from the Club’s founding in 1947.  As stewards of funds the community raises at our yearly Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale, the Club strives to manage funds in an effective, appropriate, and timely manner, and to ensure that grant awards result in positive impacts in our community.

“We had a most successful Auction and Rummage sale last July and it’s great to be able to give this much back to our community,” said Community Grants Chair Mike Lewars. “It is always difficult to select our grant recipients from the long list of worthy applicants. This year we set an all-time record of 36 grants awarded to wonderful nonprofits.”

In the last 7 years, the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island has awarded 189 Community Grants totaling over $847,000 to 85 local nonprofit organizations.
